With all the basketball shooting workouts coming out on the internet, another one just came out. Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls warms up before every practice session with a shooting workout that he created with his personal trainer. It focuses on 3 divisions: form perfection to warm up the body parts, repetition shots to ingrain technical aspects of the shot and game speed motions to simulate possible scenarios in an NBA game.
Basketball Shooting Workouts was able to grab a copy of the 3 part template they use in Chicago Attack Athletics, one of the training venues for Derrick's team. The template consists of basically picking 1-2 exercises per division. If you want to create your own Custom Shooting workout from this template, kindly view our post by clicking the link.
Here's an example of a generic basketball shooting workout.
Form - Repetition - Speed
Lying Down Shots
While lying down on the floor, the player holds the ball in his shooting pocket and does repetitive shots, having the ball fly up and back down to him to catch. This emphasizes the follow through and the shooting form, as well as warms up the shooting arm.
Free Throw Jumpers
The player stands at the free throw line, and catches the ball from his partner. Upon catching, the player immediately rises up and takes a jump shot. Repetition from this area ingrains the needed power to score from the perimeter area, as well as ensure that the shot is in a straight line.
J.J. Reddick Fly-By
The player starts at the center of the 3 point arc and drives to the right. After one dribble, he catches the ball and rises up for a moving jumper. This momentum is riden as the player takes the shot. Repeat on the other side.
